THE MONOTYPES
Tired of the fact that bands and music today only are about attitude and hype, Monotypes strive to give you timeless melodies, embodying the spirit of San Francisco ‘69, Manchester ‘94 through to Stockholm '05. Monotypes love the autumn sun, the silence and the dirty streets of the big cities. It is this feeling they're expressing and sharing through their music.
The band consists of four friends from Stockholm , Sweden . Vocalist Mike Szymanski knows how to put on a show, down the beers, and have a knack for writing deceptively simple melodies. Guitarist Erik Eriksson also joins in on the vocals, his fragile voice a contrast to Mike's distinctive vibrato. Driving the rhythm is Kerem Yazar on bass (a man with a hidden sensitive side) and Doc, their Keith Moon-inspired drummer, principal lyricist and visionary.
They released their debut album, There's Hope, on independent label Dilemma Recordings in May '03 and since then have been busy touring clubs and festivals, supporting the likes of The Datsuns and Mando Diao, earning a reputation as a great live band.
They are now ready for the next level
Their self-titled EP was released on Hijack Records in 2005.
The album Dead Streets was released on Hijack Records in 2006.
